Grief and Life Transition Therapy in Denver and Online Across Colorado & Pennsylvania
A calm, compassionate space to make sense of what you’re carrying, and move through it at your own pace.
I’m Laura Vargas, MSW, LCSW, a nationally-recognized Grief therapist and Psychotherapist offering in-person counseling in Denver and secure online therapy across Colorado and Pennsylvania. I specialize in helping adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about how to move forward after loss or major life transitions.
Therapy that Honors Your Story and Your Strengths
Does it feel like your life has been flipped upside down following the loss of someone you care about or other traumatic event? Grief isn’t just one feeling or one moment in time. It’s an experience that can reshape your relationships, identity, routines, and the way you understand yourself.
If you are feeling alone, misunderstood, or like you just need someone you can talk to without fear of judgment, you have come to the right place. My approach is grounded in compassion, meaning-making, and the belief that healing looks different for everyone. I offer a steady, nonjudgmental space where you can explore what’s happening inside you, without pressure or timelines.
I would be honored to work with you and to have the opportunity to learn about what makes you uniquely you and how we can channel that to help you grow around your grief.
I help clients work through:
Death loss and bereavement
Non-death losses (divorce, estrangement, job loss, moves, immigration, identity shifts)
Anticipatory grief
Relationship changes
Chronic illness and caregiver grief
Burnout and emotional overwhelm
Life transitions and questions of identity or direction
Anxiety

How I Can Help
Despite its universality, grief is one of the most difficult experiences humans have to go through. I have spent nearly a decade working with individuals grieving stigmatized losses, such as those due to overdose/substance use and suicide. When individuals have felt like no one else understands, I have been there to truly see them and to meet them where they are.
Whether you are grieving a death-loss or a non-death loss (e.g., divorce, job loss, etc.), I approach grief and trauma from a holistic lens, recognizing that these experiences impact us in all aspects of life, and weave a variety of therapeutic approaches to best meet your individual needs. The goal will never be to “get over it” or to “move on,” but rather to work on rebuilding your life in a way that feels meaningful to you.
If you are here for one of my other specialties, such as Anxiety or navigating life transitions, I will also take a strengths-based approach in our work together- serving as a source of hope and support in your roadmap to healing.
What You Can Expect:
A space where you can:
Speak freely about your grief
Understand your emotions without self-judgment
Explore meaning and identity after loss
Build coping tools that feel realistic and gentle
Feel supported, not “fixed”
